"I Returned": War and Psychological Trauma

Our team at Maple Hope organized a training on psychological trauma for Ukrainian psychologists, developed by a Canadian doctor of Ukrainian origin, a specialist in trauma, accredited by the Canadian Veterans Association - Daria Shevchuk.

Dr. Daria Shevchuk is a teacher and registered psychologist with more than 35 years of experience providing therapy to people of all ages who have experienced psychological trauma in different ways.

This course has been specially designed for psychologists. He expanded the psychologist’s understanding of psychological trauma by focusing on the differences between childhood trauma and trauma in adulthood.

The purpose of the course is to discuss targeted trauma care in the context of trauma awareness. The course will teach advanced theories and practices related to how to treat traumatized children, adolescents, adults, and families.

The course has become useful for professional psychologists who work with patients who have received psychological trauma (veterans, their families, first aid specialists, victims of domestic violence, etc.). Required qualifications include counselling skills, professional interest in trauma, resilience to stress and trauma; commitment to the program.

The training was held thanks to the support of the charity fund “International Association for the Support of Ukraine” from September 22 to October 6, 2018 in Kyiv.
