A Fundraising Evening in Ottawa for the "I've Returned" Project

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Ukrainian National Federation (UNF) Ottawa-Gatineau for choosing to organize its fourth annual fundraiser in support of Maple Hope Foundation.

On June 28, 2017, Dr. Melania Buba, co-President of UNF-OG, warmly welcomed a gathering of 60 individuals, marking the beginning of a night dedicated to supporting war veterans in Ukraine battling PTSD and their families.

The event proved to be a tremendous success, raising $4,000. This contribution added to the UNF-OG Branch’s cumulative total of $55,000.00, directed towards aiding the victims of war in Ukraine since 2014.

Maple Hope’s “I’ve Returned” project aims at providing Ukrainian veterans with access to quality mental health and psychological support services. The program draws on expertise from Veterans Transnational Program (VTP) developed by researchers and clinicians from the University of British Columbia in 1997 to Ukraine. In collaboration with VTP Canada, we took on the responsibility of bringing this uniquely Canadian and sustainable program to Ukraine.

Denis Polishchuk, a veteran himself and a passionate advocate for the Veterans Network in Ukraine, presented the program on behalf of MHF at the ALT Hotel in downtown Ottawa on June 28th.

The harsh reality of non-combat casualties, surpassing 3,000 in the Ukrainian Army with several hundred suicides, underscores the urgent necessity for initiatives like VTP.

We thank UNF (Ottawa-Gatineau) branch, all distinguished guests, and donors for supporting this important project!
