Maple Hope Foundation and the “Unite with Ukraine” Initiative of the Ukrainian World Congress Deliver 50 Additional MOVES® SLC™ Mobile Life Support Systems to Ukraine

On February 23, a shipment of 50 MOVES® SLC™ mobile life support systems arrived in Kyiv through the joint efforts of the Maple Hope Foundation and the “Unite with Ukraine” initiative of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC). These portable systems are designed to provide advanced emergency medical care to severely wounded soldiers directly on the battlefield.

Recipients include ten military units within the Ministry of Defense; the National Guard of Ukraine, including the 1st Corps of the Ukrainian National Guard “Azov” and the 2nd Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine “Khartia”; the National Police of Ukraine and the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. For the first time since the Maple Hope Foundation began delivering MOVES® SLC™ systems to Ukraine, a civilian institution is among the recipients—expanding the technology’s use beyond military operations and into civilian medical settings.

Developed by Thornhill Medical, the MOVES® SLC™ is the only micro-integrated portable life support technology of its kind in the world. Each unit combines an oxygen concentrator, an oxygen-conserving ventilator, suction, and comprehensive vital sign monitoring in a single rugged, battery-powered device. The system eliminates the need for heavy and hazardous oxygen tanks, making it an invaluable device in combat conditions.

This assistance package, valued at CAD 10 million (UAH 315 million), includes specialized training for Ukrainian military personnel, including combat medics and anesthesiologists. With each delivery of this state-of-the-art equipment, Thornhill Medical experts, in cooperation with the Maple Hope Foundation, provide hands-on training to ensure that medical teams are fully prepared to deploy and operate the systems effectively in the field.

Since 2022, the Maple Hope Foundation has delivered 185 MOVES® SLC™ systems to Ukraine. As demand for this specialized, life-saving equipment increases, the need for continued support remains critical.
